Hellmann: Reverse engineering of the host and redesign - QAware

Written by Hellmann Worldwide Logistics | Jun 05, 2024
Business Impact:

Accurate capture and reverse engineering of system knowledge and architecture ensures operational continuity of the legacy system, enables low-risk migration planning, parallelizes the process, minimizes costs and ensures future profitability.

What we were asked about:

Boost stalled migration: A lack of transparency and lost knowledge of an outdated, host-based logistics system were stalling the migration project. A clear insight into the existing system should help to restructure the migration planning on a solid basis.

What we delivered:

Transparency: Our team successfully reverse-engineered the host architecture and the specialist structures anchored in the code using specially developed tools. We made this information available in a consolidated form via a central single source of truth database.

This strategic step increased the system's development capability in the migration phase through knowledge distribution and formed a robust foundation for the immediate development and implementation of a migration plan with the customer.
