Cloud-native development has surpassed the peak of the Gartner Hype Cycle. The first wave of disillusionment has set in. Applications that are merely two years old are already considered technical legacies. The developability of highly distributed applications is reaching the limits of what is bearable. The effort required for the operation and maintenance of infrastructure is immense. Complexity is increasing at points that could just barely be managed by outsourcing operation providers until now. A collapse is programmed. How can cloud-native software development function successfully at the enterprise level, and what role does software architecture play in this?
